National Interest Security Company Names Former Senator Chuck Hagel to its Board of Directors
Fairfax, VA, (April 6, 2009) - National Interest Security Company, LLC, (NISC), a leading provider of innovative information technology, information management and management technology consulting in support of national interest and security initiatives announced today that former U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel has joined NISC’s Board of Directors. Chuck Hagel served two terms in the United States Senate (1997-2009) representing the state of Nebraska. He was a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; and Intelligence Committees. Hagel chaired the Foreign Relations International Economic Policy, Export and Trade Promotion Subcommittee; and the Banking Committees International Trade and Finance; and Securities Subcommittees. He also chaired both the Senate Climate Change Observer Group and the Senate Oversight Task Force. In 1981, Hagel was nominated by President Ronald Reagan, and confirmed by the Senate, to serve as Deputy Administrator of the Veterans Administration.
Hagel also has extensive experience in the private sector. Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate, Hagel worked as the President of McCarthy & Co., an investment banking firm based in Omaha, Nebraska, and served as Chairman of the Board of American Information Systems. Before joining McCarthy & Co., Hagel was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Council in Washington, D.C., Chief Operating Officer of the 1990 Economic Summit of Industrialized Nations (G-7) and President and Chief Executive Officer of the World USO. In the mid-1980's, Hagel co-founded VANGUARD Cellular Systems, Inc., a publicly traded corporation
Hagel served in the U.S. Army infantry and is a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran, receiving the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, two Purple Hearts, Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Since retiring from the Senate, Hagel was elected Chairman of the Atlantic Council of the United States, serves on the Advisory Board of Corsair Capital, is a Director of Wolfensohn & Company, is a Senior Advisor to McCarthy Capital Corporation, and is a member of Pfizer’s Emerging Markets Advisory Board. He has also recently joined Georgetown University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha as a Distinguished Professor.
